Ying's Maternity Shoot!

As I might have mentioned before, half of our life group is currently pregnant. Thus all the fun maternity shoots =) ! Here's the latest from Ying's shoot over at the UNCC Botanical Garden.

 

Any Excuse for Pinterest

So yesterday was obviously Mothers' Day, so my mom & I decided to have a pinterest/craft day. I'd seen these really cute sconces a while ago that we decided to have a go at. This isn't going to be a step-by-step tutorial or anything, just a few cell phone photos. You can find the original blog post from Shanty 2 Chic here.

There were a couple of differences that we decided to go with.  The Shanty's version was 24" long. I thought this would be too big for the space I had in mind, so we went ahead and made them 16" instead. I found the top design really cheap at Michael's and had to buy the finials at a flea market.

 

 

After spray-painting the entire sconce you are supposed to sand the edges and rub stain on it to "antique" it a bit. HOWEVER, the stain soaked through the spray paint I used. I ended up hand-painting them with acrylic paint, and then I could sand and stain them fine.

The last step was to take some mason jars and attach them to the sconces with gorilla glue. I had trouble finding the right size jar though, so in the search I came across these jars at Walmart. They actually had giant candles in them that we dug out =) . Anyway, here's the finished product (minus the little candles that I'll add once they're actually hanging)!

MK's Maternity Shoot!

Our lovely life group leaders are going to be having a little boy here soon, so Saturday I had the opportunity to take Mary Katherine's maternity photos! We took our time and did a little bit of everything, but how could this shoot not be fun when she has such a cute baby bump? Thanks again for letting me be part of your lives like this!

Josh & Alisha's Engagement Photos

First of all, thank you so very much to everyone for your prayers and for your encouraging messages so far. Mom was doing a lot better today. Still a long road ahead, but we're grateful for no more flare-ups.

I was able to have a nice mental break today though when we went over to our good friends' home for dinner- the lovely Josh & Alisha soon-to-be-Pech! I had the opportunity to shoot their engagement photos 2 weekends ago and had an absolute blast with them. It's so fun to see 2 of your friends so very much in love. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
